Job Description:
Dreaming California is looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic teacher who enjoys teaching the following profile of classes: young learners (from 4yrs old), teenagers and adults (both general and exam preparation). The successful candidate will hold the CELTA or equivalent and have a minimum 1 year teaching experience showing proven ability with young learners.
GROSS SALARY : €1,210.00 Paid each month into a Spanish bank account after deductions. There are further increments for more teaching experience and /or recognized qualifications beyond CELTA such as IHCYLT or the DELTA or PGCE.
The post is for 22 contact teaching hours, taught between Monday and Saturday. Most of the groups are taught in our centre with some off-site groups in the area.
Teaching timetables are usually quite compact with most classes on-site taking place between 16.30h and 21.00h Monday to Thursday. Off-site teaching takes place over the lunchtime period or mornings. Most students attend twice a week on either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs taking two x 90 min. classes.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Teaching 22 contact teaching hours
Lesson planning and timetabling
Materials preparation as part of lesson planning
Attending meetings with parents and office meetings/trainings.
Setting, collecting and marking of homework and collating results
Ongoing assessment of student progress
Completing termly evaluations and writing up of comments/final reports
It might include duties as Senior Teacher such as Supervise/Train other teachers or manage classes in one of our centres.
A work visa is not required for EU citizens/passport. However, the teacher must register with the police on arrival and obtain a fiscal identity number - NIE - and national Insurance number before the contract can be drawn up and signed.
THE FOLLOWING ARE DESIRABLE:
pre-CELTA work experience in another profession; a PGCE in the primary or lower middle school age range; experience working on summer camps or similar; post-CELTA experience teaching children in an off-site situation; enthusiasm to get involved in social activities; willing to share their own - and enjoy learning from others - experience; interest in getting to know the area.
