English teacher interested in art - Mornings (AUTÓNOMO only)
We are looking for a freelance English teacher to conduct occasional art-related speaking activities in the mornings with large groups of children (up to 25 kids, ages 5-14).
You don’t need to be an artist yourself, but you must be interested in art - this is not a typical classroom course! If you don’t like art, you’re not into working with children or you’re just looking for a regular teaching position, this job is not for you.
The activities you will be leading are scheduled on demand. You MUST have another job with flexible hours or a 100% compatible schedule – you should consider this as an extra.
You will work at least ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH, with a couple of busier months. Sessions are scheduled weeks if not months in advance, which means you will be assigned groups on specific dates with plenty of notice and you will be able to plan around those dates.
We need somebody with the following availability from mid November to June (all three days):
WEDNESDAYS: 11 – 12 am
THURSDAYS AND FRIDAYS: 10 - 11 am, ideally with some flexibility (you might have the occasional session from 11 to 12 am)
All sessions last about an hour and take place in central Barcelona. You will be paid 30€/activity (before tax).
Please apply ONLY if you meet ALL of the following requirements:
• You’re native/totally bilingual
• You already live in Barcelona
• You’re autónomo/a: you will be required to produce invoices for your work (no exceptions). Please mention your autónomo status in your application.
• You’re already working and you would like occasional extra hours in the mornings
• You’re flexible about when you work within the timetable outlined above
• You commit to working with us at least until June 2016
• You have an ESL certificate (CELTA/TESOL/TEFL) or other relevant qualification
• You have experience working with groups of children and teens (at least 1 year) and you love it
• You’re interested in 20th century art. It’s not about knowledge, it’s about attitude – you need to have an open mind and be enthusiastic, curious and willing to learn more.
Please send us your CV AND A COVER LETTER giving details of your timetable/professional commitments for the next year and why you’re excited about this position.
APPLICATIONS WITHOUT A COVER LETTER WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
Interviews will take place in late October/early November. The successful candidate will receive paid training and start work in November.
Thank you!
