PAID VOLUNTEER POSITION TEACHING AT A CHRISTIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN GUATEMALA (August 2018)

We have number of positions including; Math, Science, Bible Studies, Elementary Principal, History, English Literature, PE, Counsellors, Music / Drama, Aid / Development and a number of Primary positions. Minimum requirement is a degree in the field i.e., Maths, Physics. Candidates need not have teaching experience although it is preferable.

Stipend:

$600 per month

School profile

Non-denominational Christian Mission School affiliated with AdvancEd and ASCI. The ratio of student to teacher is 15:1.

Candidate profile:

-As this is a Christian mission school, only applicants of a Christian faith will be accepted.

-Candidates will be expected to provide a Statement of Faith.

-Native level of spoken English.

-Degree in relevant field.

-Teacher certification desirable but not required.

-Teaching experience desirable but not required.

Benefits:

-Teachers can become a certified teacher through ASCI.

-The school provides accommodation with host families at $225 per month (including bills and meals). However, teachers are at liberty to find their own accommodation or move out at any time.

-$750 is put towards Professional Development each year.

-$150 is available to go towards learning Spanish.

-There is a teacher bus which drops teachers off at the school every day.

-A ticket back to closest home of record is provided at the end of the year.

-IAS is a 501C3 employer (loan deferment and loan forgiveness). Income contingent $0 payments may be made against outstanding student loans whilst working at the school.

-There are many opportunities to go Hiking / Scuba Diving etc in the vicinity.

Salary: $600.00 to $850.00 /month
