A photo: use every asset you have, so unless you look like the Elephant Man then get a nice snap of yourself up there because language teaching is a very visual job – you are the image of the company that sends you out.
A (respectable) email address: don't forget this, otherwise we get a million emails and phone calls asking for it. Also, for goodness sake, don't use a "witty" email address such as hotbuns69@hotmail.com ...seriously, you'd be amazed how many people do this.
AYour phone number: again, it's incredible how many people forget this.
If they did then we'd have gone out of business a very long time ago!
Our system sends cvs out gradually and individually over 24 hours, ensuring that they are not seen as bulk/junk mail.
As a safeguard we contact the schools on our lists to make sure that they put our emails on their safe-list (and to make sure our emails go to exactly the right person)
Constantly, with a big "spring-clean" every 6 months: it's amazing how many schools pop up (and vanish!) every year, and how many change their email addresses without warning
From everywhere! ...now we're much bigger and have been established for several years, new schools actually contact us (which is nice!): generally our researchers wade through all many of physical and electronic sources to find every last school – it's a total pain in the arse, which is why people pay us.
We prefer to be totally transparent about the fact that we do our bit (i.e. send your cv/resumé absolutely everywhere), but that it's a competitive sector and there is a world economic crisis, so we obviously cannot guarantee that everyone will get a job. If you have any doubts then we'd far rather you spent your cash on a couple of beers, but at the end of the day you have to send your cv out sooner or later so we reckon it's a good bet.
Because as ex-teachers we know that language teachers often don't have that much cash when they're looking for work: our logic is that 10 euros is the price of a couple of beers, so definitely worth a gamble if people are in doubt. We don't make it free as we'd get all sorts of jokers sending crap cvs out and we'd lose credibility.
No, we check every school to make sure it's the real deal. That said, as in every aspect of life, you should avoid including any of the obvious identity-theft details such as your ID number / social security number / passport number just in case, and NEVER EVER send any school money in advance for any reason whatsoever.
Again, this is just in case, we have never had any problems in three years of operations.
For fairly obvious legal reasons we never divulge who they are: there are very few of them, but there are one or two you really wouldn't want us to send your cv to!
We are based in Madrid, Spain, we were originally teachers ourselves, and many of our team still are: we started this service because we needed a list ourselves and thought others might like to use it too. Many of our team members have used our own service to find themselves work, so we know it does work.
